SOUTH ST. BURGER Co. BRINGS PREMIUM BURGERS TO MARKHAM DINERS

MARKHAM (ON) – December 3, 2009…. Markham residents can now take a bite out of a tasty, fresh South St. Burger!  South St. Burger Co., a premium burger restaurant owned and operated by New York Fries, opened its 11th location today; its first in Markham located at 7355 Woodbine Ave, just north of Denison.

“This Markham opening is particularly exciting because it marks our first stand alone location and our largest restaurant yet,” comments Jay Gould, president of South St. Burger Co. and New York Fries. “We are excited to bring our premium burger and range of toppings to the Markham community, and appreciate all the emails we received asking when the restaurant would be opening our doors!”

All items on South St. Burger Co.’s menu are designed to be “best in class.” The menu features: fresh burger patties made from hormone and antibiotic-free, naturally raised beef; small size burgers (same burgers, half the size); grilled chicken breasts; and veggie burgers.  Sides include fresh-cut New York Fries and poutine, onion rings and real, hand-scooped ice cream milkshakes.  The onion rings, like the fries, are fresh-cut and cooked in non-hydrogenated sunflower oil.

At South St. Burger Co., customers can top off their burger with more than 25 traditional and exotic condiment choices, including Dijon horseradish, wasabi mayo, mango chutney, guacamole and others at no extra charge.  A selection of four real cheeses, including cheddar, Swiss, goat and Monterey Jack with jalapeno, are also on the menu.

The quick service restaurant designed by Jump Branding and Design, occupies 2,600 square feet and feels like a contemporary, New York-style loft.

The Markham location will also be participating in South St. Burger Co.’s annual toy drive.  From now until December 24, customers who bring in a new and unwrapped toy to any South St. Burger Co. location, including Markham, will receive a free burger to reward them for their support. All toys will be donated to the CHUM/CP24 Children’s Wish campaign.

South St. Burger Co. is open from 11:00 am - 10:00 pm, Monday – Saturday and 11:00 am – 9:00 pm on Sunday, with free on-site parking.  The company’s other locations include Barrie, North York, Mississauga, Newmarket, Etobicoke, Aurora, Burlington, Calgary and two in Toronto.  South St. Burger Co. will open in Ajax in February 2010, and continues to seek appropriate real estate for continued development in the GTA and Calgary markets. The stores are a mix of corporately owned and franchised locations.

Give and ye shall receive
Give and ye shall receive

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but as we are often reminded over the holidays, this season is not wonderful for everyone in Canada.

South St. Burger Co. is asking its customers to bring some holiday cheer to less fortunate children by donating new and unwrapped toys at any one of the South St. Burger Co. locations. These toys will be donated to the CHUM/CP24 Children’s Wish campaign, which supplies toys to a variety of registered charitable organizations, social service agencies, community centres and churches. Beginning November 16, every customer who brings in a toy to South St. Burger Co. will receive a free burger to reward them for their support.

All South St. Burger Co. locations in Ontario will be collecting toys until the morning of December 24th . In 2008, 74,388 needy children received toys through the CHUM/CP24 Children’s Wish and South St. Burger Co. hopes to help the program gather even more toys this year.

Give and ye shall receive with South St. Burger Co.!
